A Note from Walter and Iris,  Co-Founders of TAOK

In October 2010, Iris wrestled up enough courage to ask Walter to be her dance partner. Even thought it took him a month to decide, he finally accepted! Four months later, on January 27th, 2011, they placed 2nd in their first dance competition (Follow My Lead w/Derrick Farrow), and two weeks after that they participated in their first showcase (Step N Style Valentines Day Event). This competition and their first showcase was just the beginning for them.

Throughout 2011, besides becoming peer instructors for Flo-Motion Dance Association, Walter and Iris continued to showcase at several events; however, one of their biggest dance achievements came in 2011 when they won 1st place at the 4th Annual “Steppin’ in the Bayou” dance competition in Baton Rouge. This was a big award because it was the first award Walter and Iris won outside of Texas. As Walter and Iris continued to grow their dance skills and dance partnership, they would go on to place 1st and 2nd place in several dance competitions.

Through the years, Walter and Iris never stopped dancing. They are always looking ahead to the future, and that's why, in 2015, Walter and Iris started The Art of Kemistry Dance Organization.

Building the group was a slow process, but with their extreme work ethic, the support of family and friends, dedicated students, and their love for Houston Two-Step, they know, without a shadow of doubt, TAOK will continue to grow and prosper.
